Gridwork
The cast-iron manhole cover embedded in the plaza asphalt caught my eye with its tight geometric relief. I crossed the low curb to inspect the casting up close. The metal surface was patterned with raised radial treads and interlocking squares—an ideal testing ground for grip. Planting my right boot squarely into a primary groove, I dropped low and pushed into a crisp lateral pivot. The rubber channels gripped without a fraction of slippage. I linked two rapid stutter-steps across the outer ring and finished in a firm defensive stance. Zero slide on the iron. Ground verified.
