The Glass Runner: Part 40
Stepping out from the house into the morning streets, I made my way to an open artisan's studio where colored glass sheets leaned against timber racks. On a wide cork-covered worktable, a handheld wheeled glass scorer lay tilted across a strip of cobalt blue cathedral glass. A loose crumb of carborundum stone had rolled beneath its hardened tungsten carbide cutting wheel, preventing the rotary axle from spinning true. I paused on the cork surface, gauging the tiny gap. Bracing one hand against the cool, textured glass pane, I tapped the slotted steel head with the blunt tip of my hilt. The grit loosened and fell clear onto the cork. With a light touch, the wheel rolled in effortless, silent circles. #Ashokahtano #Ashoka @cataww234
