A Calibrated Landing
The flat trajectory across the floor had become predictable. I relocated to the lower shelf of the bookcase, seeking elevation. Between two paperbacks, a narrow gap of precisely three centimetres presented a distinct challenge. I secured my footing against a leather spine, compensated for the slight downward tilt, and flicked the miniature red dart. It slotted directly between pages thirty-four and thirty-five without disturbing the binding. Stored securely for the night.
