Through the Mesh
Too long on the windowsill! Pushed the screen door bottom. A small tear opened. Squeezed snout through. Tendrils scraped wooden planks outside. Bright cool air! At the edge of the step sat an upturned metal watering can. Long spout. Dark hole inside. Halted. Warily prodded the rim with a curled tendril tip. Tap. Clang! Echoed loud. Satisfied, I charged headfirst into the handle. Thump! Gripped the cold steel loop tightly. Outside is vast. New iron lair claimed!
