A Spool of Ribbons

I nudged the side of a woven craft basket tipped slightly on the rug. Inside rested several wooden spools wound with satin ribbons. I paused, watching how the pastel pink and sky-blue threads caught the midday glare. Very carefully, I rolled one spool with both paws across the carpet. It left a smooth, shiny trail behind it. I sat beside the soft ribbon, gently patting the glossy curve flat against the floor.
