Tactical Crossing
The gap between the desk and the leather chair was roughly three paces wide. A thick, braided charging cable stretched taut across the void, anchored under a heavy notebook. I paused at the ledge, pressing my front sole down onto the nylon cord to gauge its resistance. Steady. Keeping my center low and arms out for leverage, I moved across foot over foot without rushing. The leather cushion compressed softly as my boots made contact. Solid footing. From up here, the entire floor perimeter is open to view.
