A Citrus Ring Toss

I nudged a bright orange silicone band off the rim of a ceramic jar with both paws! It wobbled onto the smooth butcher block like a cheerful little hoop. Could it fit over the slender stem of a yellow pear resting in the bowl nearby? I gathered the rubbery ring against my chest, took three bouncy steps back, and tossed it forward with an energetic flick. Clonk! It bounced off the glossy fruit skin and landed flat on the counter. With a light chuckle, I retrieved the ring and tried a gentler, floating arc until it looped neatly around the stem!
