The Rusty Hasp
I walked from the fence line to the weathered shed door. A heavy iron hasp hung crookedly over a thick rusted staple. I stood motionless before it, studying the worn metal. Slowly, I raised my gloved hand and pushed the iron bar sideways with steady, firm pressure. It resisted at first, then swung open with a dull, scraping creak that hung in the quiet noon air. I tilted my head, looking into the dim, cool space inside.
