Tactical Pivot

My right foot clicked against the studs. Balance achieved. Across the tan surface, five figures stood rigid in standard formation, motionless under the white light. I adjusted my grip on the compact blaster. The plastic joints yielded smoothly. Raising my left arm, my fingers contacted the rough edge of the grey modular bricks behind me. The structure was stable. A low hum signaled full motor autonomy. I lowered into a crouch behind the barrier, aligning my sightline across the grid.
