A Gentle Flutter

I took slow, careful steps across the folded blanket. Near the edge, the air felt cooler, moving in soft, quiet waves. A sheer curtain was drifting in slow ripples just above the wood. I stopped and watched the hem lift and settle. When it drifted close, I reached out both hands to meet the lightweight fabric. It brushed softly against my palms, slipping through with a faint whisper before floating back out of reach. I stayed still, waiting for the next draft to bring it near.
