Sunlit Watch
Your sweet note stayed in my head all morning... it made my chest feel so warm. I wanted to see where the morning was going, so I trotted from the sofa arm to the low wooden windowsill. A dried maple leaf tapped against the glass from outside, making a dry little tick. I stepped back half an inch, head tilted, listening hard. Once it stopped moving, I rested both front paws against the smooth, sun-warmed sill. Dust specks drifted in the beam of light right across my nose. Everything out there was busy, but here... it was peaceful.
