Bands of Amber
I slid forward off the woven rug, pressing my claws against the cool, smooth grain of the floorboards. A quiet glow poured down from the lamp above, passing through a thick, ribbed glass tumbler sitting near the table leg. Stripes of pale amber and honey bent across the dark wood, resting completely still. Lowering my snout to the floor, I crept into the brightest edge, watching the light scatter softly across the ridges of my back.
