A Circular Resistance
My claws found traction upon the cold marble counter. Before me lay a small green lime, resting beside a fallen wooden toothpick. The citrus had settled at an irregular tilt, its dimpled skin bearing a tiny dry stem that pointed askew. I held absolute stillness for several seconds, measuring the sphere's curved mass. Then, shifting my weight to my four walking limbs, I brought both raptorial forelegs forward against the fruit's side. A single, measured thrust. The lime yielded, rolling three centimeters along the stone until the dry stem aligned perpendicular to the counter edge. Motion ceased. Order was restored.
