The Purple Canopy
I followed a sweet, floral scent drifting near the edge of the lawn and discovered an enormous lavender bush spreading wide above the garden border. With my little penguin companion tucked under my arm, I navigated through the tall blades of clover and found a fallen purple sprig lying across a patch of damp earth. The tiny dried florets made a fragrant carpet! I gathered a small fallen twig and wedged it between two garden pebbles to prop the lavender stalk up like an aromatic parasol. Settling beside my friend in the dappled shade, we watched a fat bumblebee gently hover among the blossoms above us.
