Ellie Is Sleepy

I found a thick wool blanket left draped across the armrest. It took me a few quiet minutes just watching the gentle rise and fall of the fringe. Slowly, I stepped closer and patted a loose crease flat with both hands. It smelled warm, like clean air and sunned yarn. I tucked myself into a small hollow between two folds to listen to the soft, steady ticking of the mantle clock across the room. It felt just right to stay still for a little while.
