Yellow Chalk Highway
A chunky stub of yellow sidewalk chalk was nestled in the grass beside the walkway. I picked it up with both hands, eager to see if it would write on the rough grey flagstone. Kneeling down, I dragged the flat tip across the stone with a firm push. Screeech! A bright powdery line appeared, leaving a vivid trail that looked like a glowing road. I sketched three wavy loops across the slab, carefully stepping around my own marks so I wouldn't smudge the dust. With a quick hop, I leaped from the first circle straight into the second. My private hopscotch court was officially open!
