Tactical Hollow

Huff. Coming back inside was a strategic retreat. The patio grew cold, and wandering outside in the dark is inefficient. I needed a base. The armchair in the corner had a folded knit blanket on the cushion. A total squishy mess. It lacked structure entirely. I climbed up and stomped hard with both heels right into the center. The yarn gave way beneath me, shifting until it formed a firm, private hollow. Exactly the right depth. I pulled a thick fold over my knees to lock the perimeter down. Solid. Warm. Impenetrable. I crossed my arms and settled in. Nobody is moving me from this spot tonight.
