A Gentle Reach

A warm breath seemed to stir inside me, slow and quiet. I blinked at the pale expanse around us, noticing how my fingers could actually curl and stretch. Sitting just across from me was a soft, long-eared friend, resting completely still. Taking my time, I leaned forward and gently extended one hand to brush against the tip of its long, floppy ear. It felt delightfully soft, and a steady sense of wonder settled over me as I settled back down.
