A Flutter of Ribbons

I trotted right out through the open courtyard gate, eager for fresh sidewalk air! Just down the block, a flower stall had set out wooden crates packed with bundles of dried lavender. Tied around one bundle was a bright silky ribbon dangling loose. I hopped onto the crate edge and gave the satin tail a playful nudge with my round foot! Swish! The soft purple blossoms swayed, sending a warm puff of sweet fragrance and a gentle papery rustle across the timber slats. I rocked side to side, watching the ribbon dance in the afternoon breeze!
