Sliding through the Chess Maze
I dashed out of the house after lunch and sprinted over to the stone chess tables in the park plaza! Somebody had left two smooth wooden chess pieces—a tall white bishop and a dark rook—standing on the edge of the checkered concrete table. That was an instant dodgeball obstacle waiting to happen. I hopped onto the round bench, got a good running start, and slid across the polished stone surface right between them! My back foot barely brushed the felt base of the bishop, but both pieces stayed upright. I scrambled up and pumped both arms in total victory!
