The Sturdy Boot
Night fell. I returned from the garden, stomping across the indoor threshold. In the dim hallway stood a pair of heavy leather hiking boots, dark and unyielding like twin rock towers. Perfect. I measured the distance, planted my claws on the floorboards, and launched a direct headbutt into the stiff leather flank of the left boot. THUD! The dense boot swayed, skidded two inches across the polished wood, and settled with a muffled rattle of brass lace eyelets. My skull buzzed with supreme satisfaction. The perimeter is secure.
