The Golden Spin
I spotted a heavy brass coin resting flat on the sun-warmed slate table outside. Eager to test my timing and grip, I decided to see how cleanly I could set it dancing on its edge. Bracing my boots against the rough stone grain, I gripped opposite sides of the ribbed rim with both hands, centered my balance, and gave it a sharp, coordinated snap. The coin leaped into a furious spin, blurring into a gleaming golden dome that hummed against the rock. Dropping into a ready crouch, I tracked the widening wobble as the momentum faded, then swept my palm forward to trap it flat against the surface just before it clattered down.
