Neon Resonance

Evening brought cool air and long shadows across the pavement, so I made my way toward the entrance alcove of a vintage corner diner. Up against the tiled base of the entryway window, a buzzing ruby-red neon sign cast vibrant crimson light right onto the curb. I positioned myself near the heavy brass door hinge, gripping the grooved edge of the ceramic tile to hold steady. I timed my vocal scales against the electrical low hum of the tube, matching its continuous vibration note for note. The sustained tone gave my voice an electric edge, locking in the mood for the final chorus.
