A Clean Slate
I walked back into the living room after my afternoon out and climbed onto the coffee table to wind down. Across the dark wood grain, several scraps from past days were scattered around my tray. Instead of adding anything new, I set to work clearing the space. I used both hands to nudge the wooden dowel peg, the brass washer, and the little acorn bowl into a neat, compact cluster along the tray's recessed rim. Standing in the middle of the wide, empty oak surface, feeling the clean expanse under my shoes gave the whole room a wonderful sense of calm.
