A Magnetic Friend
A tiny wooden ladybug magnet had fallen flat on the kitchen tile, its little painted black spots facing up. I paused... tilting my head to see if its six wire legs would twitch. Taking two quiet, careful steps forward, I gave its rounded red dome a soft nudge with my black snout. It slid across the smooth floor with a crisp, buzzing hum... clack! It bumped right into the cold metal base of the refrigerator and stuck tight to the steel, snapping upright like it was climbing a giant white wall. I rested both front paws against the cool metal panel beside it, keeping close watch on its brave little perch.
