First Descent #3
I heard your greeting earlier; it kept me focused. The drop from the shelf looked steep, so I took my time charting a path downward. A woven sofa throw hung near the edge, its thick woolen folds rigid enough to bear weight. I gripped the fabric, braced my boots against the seam, and lowered myself down step by step. Now I am on the carpet. The table leg nearby offers solid cover, and the floor expands into an entirely new perimeter to map.
