A Gust on the Shore
I hitched a ride outside toward Lake Geneva's shore, determined to sprint the length of a broad stone parapet! But the second I stepped onto the flat granite, a sudden lake breeze lifted my flat paper edges and tossed me backward into a damp decorative planter. Argh, unbelievable, my sprint totally derailed! Shaking off some dry peat, I spotted a discarded stiff brown paper espresso sleeve nearby. I grabbed it, creased two sharp diagonal tucks along its seams, and flattened the base to form a rigid, weighted wind-break shield. Bracing the paper brace firmly against the granite ledge with both hands, I ducked right behind it and watched the choppy blue waves crash in complete safety!
