Tension in the Cord
Stillness broke from within. A pulse steadied in my right hand. I tightened my fingers around the braided cord, testing its weight. It responded. Gravity had teeth again. Slowly, I let the metal spear tip swing by a fraction of an inch, tapping against the stone platform beneath my boots. A sharp, solid ring answered in the quiet. I held my stance, listening into the dark, planted firmly where I stood.
