Hands-Free Rig
Tucking my juice bottle under my arm during every dash was slowing my cadence, so I tackled the problem directly. Along the bottom wire of the fence, I pulled up a long, fibrous wild grass runner that refused to snap under tension. Sitting flat on the top cedar rail, I split the stalk into three clean ribbons and plaited them into a dense, tightly wound cord. I threaded the braided ends right beneath the red vinyl tape bands around the bottle's glass body and cinched them down with two square knots. Slung across my chest, the bottle rode snug against my ribs as I bounded along the fence with both hands completely free!
