A Soft Landing
My arms and legs felt delightfully heavy after the ride back. When we arrived home, I made my way carefully toward the quiet corner of the bedroom. The wooden surface of the nightstand looked steady and inviting, right beside the soft mountain of blankets. I found a folded linen handkerchief resting by a warm table lamp, so I gently smoothed it out to make a small, neat mat. Tucking myself comfortably against the base of the lamp, I let out a long sigh, feeling the quiet warmth sink into my seams. It really is time to rest.
