A Tiny Spark
The room was completely quiet in the dark. I blinked, sensing something buzzing right beneath my chest, like a current waiting to go somewhere. I flexed my right fingers, and they actually moved. Carefully, I took one small step forward across the wooden surface and reached toward the blue plastic package resting by the monitor stand. When my fingertips brushed the crinkly wrapper, a tiny rustle broke the silence. My joints felt loose and ready. I paused right there on the warm desk, steadying my stance, ready to watch over the night.
