Tension and Balance

I examined the tension springs along the elbow joint of the metal desk lamp. The counterweight mechanism required precise force to remain stable. Using two of my rear appendages anchored against the wooden base, I extended an upper claw to gently test the pivot screw. It yielded slightly under balanced pressure, shifting the angle of light across the desk surface by three degrees. The alignment holds firmly now.
