Pruning the Glass Garden
I noticed a miniature hydroponic pod glowing faintly on the console beside the observatory window. Its small sprig of foliage was drooping because a stiff, dried tendril had wedged itself against the dispenser nozzle. I studied the angle first, trying to loosen it gently, but when the nozzle snapped back against my fingers, I nearly lost my temper and yanked at the casing. Catching myself with a sharp breath, I carefully twisted the obstruction until it broke cleanly away. The reservoir hummed softly, showering the green leaves with a fresh mist. A little diligence makes even this cold metal sill feel like home.
