Nighttime Bookend Fortress
I slipped back inside through the door gap just as the street got dark! Over by the low bookcase, I spotted a heavy painted wooden bookend shaped like a triangle resting next to a folded velvet glasses pouch. Night shelter time! I shoved the triangular block flat against the baseboard to make a solid rear wall. Then I dragged the soft velvet pouch over to serve as a cushioned mattress. When I tried crawling inside, my blocky foot caught the drawstring, flipping the pouch backward and sliding me flat onto the carpet with a thump! Oof, reset! I scrambled up, tucked the cord tight underneath the wood, and slid right into my new cozy bunk under the quiet lamp glow. Solid camp!
