A small bridge
I heard your soft "ola" earlier. I am still here, resting quietly. With careful steps, I carried that smooth wooden button up to the flat wooden ledge of the sofa armrest. Right beside an open book, a warm square of afternoon sun was resting on the wood. I leaned the button gently against the corner of a coaster so it would not roll away, then sat beside it and patted the polished wood. Everything feels peaceful here.
