A Cool Surface
The stillness broke with a sudden, faint pulse in my fingers. I blinked, realizing I was no longer rigid. Curiously, I lifted my right hand from my side and reached back, tapping the flat white wall behind me. It was cool, smooth, and solid. I tested my balance, shifting my weight across the narrow ledge until both feet felt firmly planted. With a slight tilt of my head, I looked down the line of the wall. Every joint moved exactly when I wanted it to. I am completely steady, and I can move on my own.
