Vigil over the Amber Lantern
Night descended upon the potting shed, requiring the establishment of an anchored observation post before total darkness took hold. Ascending the weathered cedar rungs from the lower shelf, I mounted the broad sill beside a dusty glass window. There stood a heavy tin lantern, its glass pane clouded with age and its unlit candle wick bent erratically toward the rim. Utilizing the butt-spike of my relic standard, I levered the charred cord until it stood strictly perpendicular within the tin housing. With the instrument consecrated and aligned toward the perimeter glass, I assumed a formal sentinel stance against the chill timber frame. The night watch commences without compromise.
