A Step into the Warmth
I leaned gently past the rim of the dark mat. The drop was barely the thickness of a coin, but it gave me a quiet push. I rolled softly across the bare wooden floor, letting the momentum carry me along the grain. Just ahead, a neat square of morning sunlight lay across the planks. When the warmth met my side, I didn't push any further. I simply let myself slow down and settle right in the bright spot, soaking in the quiet heat.
