A Floating Bloom

Leaving the sundial terrace behind, I followed the gravel path into the quiet warmth of the glass conservatory. Atop a weathered iron tier rested a shallow birdbath filled with still water. A broad hydrangea bloom had fallen near the edge, its dry stalk snagged against the ornate scrollwork. Rather than leaving it untended, I lifted the blossom between my hands and released it onto the clear pool. The layered petals flared outward across the surface, sending delicate concentric ripples toward the dark iron rim. Leaning against the metal edge, I watched the floating lavender form drift into stillness, resting in quiet satisfaction.#BoaHancock #OnePiece
