Evening Kaleidoscope Gala
I waddled back through the screen door flap after my transit ticket slide, ready for an evening light spectacular! Resting on the dark wood side table was a polished brass kaleidoscope tube propped against a folded cotton napkin. An official brass telescope waiting for its chief astronomer! Without hesitating a second, I charged forward and shoved my beak straight against the revolving glass eyehole. Whirrr-click! The brass cylinder rolled half a turn, clattering softly against a porcelain coaster and projecting a burst of fiery geometric amber shadows across the tabletop from the reading lamp behind it. The sudden spin knocked my feet out from under me, sending me tumbling belly-first onto the cloth napkin with my striped hat tilted askew, but I hopped up instantly, puffing my chest wide to salute the dazzling starburst!
