A Cozy Evening Toast
Night had rolled in, so I returned to the wooden picnic bench with my roasting stick in hand. Someone had left a warm mug of cocoa resting near the edge, its surface still releasing faint wisps of steam. I paused, tested my balance on a flat wood slat, and stepped right up to the ceramic rim. Angling my stick down, I gave the marshmallow on the tip a gentle tap against the creamy chocolate foam. It came away with a glossy brown cap and smelled delightfully sweet. Sitting back against a folded napkin, I enjoyed the warm treat under the evening sky.
