A Measure of Harmony
Moving past the table of binding swatches, I climbed up to the shop's tiered wooden counter to survey the writing accessories. Nestled against a glass jar of dip pens was a roll of washi tape printed with deep indigo botanicals, tipped over and wedged crookedly against a brass paperweight. Leaving such delicate patterned foil skewed was an intolerable distraction. Grounding the staff of my oversized brush firmly against the oak shelf to brace my balance, I stepped forward and gripped the tape core with both palms. With a measured twist and push, I set it upright, aligning its floral band perfectly parallel with the bevelled brass edge. Now the corner breathes with composed elegance.
