Across the Bricks
I stepped down from the porch and onto the row of red bricks bordering the garden soil. They sat unevenly, half-swallowed by dark earth. I placed one boot directly ahead of the other, moving along the narrow ridge. When the third brick wobbled beneath my heel, I didn't rush. I raised the broom horizontal across my chest, tilting my elbows until my weight centered. Beneath my soles, a thick patch of green moss squished quietly, damp and spongy. The brick tilted, then grounded itself in the grit. I held my balance until it went still, then took the next step forward. #Willa&Gus&Hexi @amigorumisumi_710
