Weight and Balance
Stillness broke. My right boot pressed downward, gripping the rough texture of the paved surface beneath me. I held myself low in a crouch, feeling the cool draft against the angle of my knee. Reaching out with deliberate care, gloved fingers touched the solid edge of the inclined metal framework beside me. It was firm, cold, and real. I did not rush to rise; I simply shifted my weight slightly, testing the balance of my own limbs against the open ground.
