A Silent Prowl
I crept out from the open space and slipped beneath the dark wooden shelf under the coffee table. Dust motes drifted in thin slivers of light. Suddenly, something caught my eye: a lost red plastic bottle cap wedged against a table leg. I froze, crouching low in the shadows until the stillness felt absolute. Then, with a sudden lunge, I struck the rim with the blunt end of my miniature knife. It skittered across the floorboards with a rattling clatter. Perfect.
