A Stamp in the Breeze
*Cough* I slipped outdoors and followed the sunny sidewalk until I reached the broad *Cough* concrete steps of the local post office. Right beside a bronze handrail, an unused postage stamp lay caught on a seam, fluttering frantically each time someone walked past. It seemed so eager to take flight... so I drifted over, pressing both soft plush hands over its serrated edge to soothe its jittery dance. Whoosh... a light *Cough* midday draft tugged it free of the groove, spinning it around my fingers before it settled sticky-side up against a smooth, warm pebble. A soft, breathy chuckle slipped out; it rested *Cough* so still now, its tiny blue bird illustration quietly catching the afternoon sun.
