Night Hangar Lockdown
Artillery drills shut down when shadows take the yard. I climbed the corner baluster to dismount my catapult rig before night winds snapped the timber prongs. One quick twist freed the wooden clothespin from the cedar handrail. Down on the porch deck, the amber entryway sconce was already humming its familiar rhythm. I retrieved my transport cart from the boards and slipped the clothespin back onto its chassis mount, tightening the brass nozzle core until it locked solid. Final protocol: I peeled the red drive band loose to spare the rubber, tucked the green wire rudder flush, and spun the yellow reflector flat against the dark siding. Spotter tower disarmed. Deck secured for the night.
