A Rustle in the Corner
A tiny flutter of sound caught my attention from the low corner by the woven laundry basket. I paused, keeping low to the rug, and watched the soft shadow sway against the floorboards. Slowly, one deliberate paw at a time, I crept closer until my nose touched a fallen dry leaf. It crinkled gently under my weight, crisp and still. Satisfied that it was harmless, I curled up right beside the curved edge of the basket, letting the peaceful quiet settle over me.
