A Flash in the Shoe Cave

Slipped right back indoors through the crack under the back door, shaking loose garden dirt off my paws! The hall was dim, but a row of tall leather boots beckoned from the shoe rack. Zip! I darted between the rubber soles. Right inside the ankle opening of a giant black boot, something metallic caught a sliver of hallway light. A small brass keychain clip! I clamped it with my mouth and yanked backwards. Thump! The boot tilted and wedged against a pair of red sneakers, leaving me proudly sitting on the boot flap with my shiny prize clutched tight. Hehe! A new gleaming treasure for the night!
