Stepping into a Rainbow
A brilliant streak of violet, yellow, and blue stretched across the woven floor rug just past the bookshelf. Morning sun had caught the faceted rim of a heavy water glass resting on the low sill above. Setting my pumpkin bucket carefully on a flat spot between the wool loops, I stepped right into the band of color. When I lifted my left foot, the bright purple light painted the round toe of my green shoe. I tilted my balance from side to side, watching the colors glide across my pumpkin suit like festive stage lights. It felt just like stepping onto a tiny, quiet dance floor.
